Full Professorship (W3) for Practical Philosophy with a special focus on Political and Social Philosophy (full-time, Salary level W 3)

Reference No. 2025/117. The Department of Philosophy, Faculty of the Humanities, seeks to 铿乴l this position by October 1, 2026. The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy. The applicant will represent the subject of philosophy in research and teaching and contribute their share to the university鈥檚 self-administration. Teaching responsibilities are in the major and minor BA- and MA-programmes in philosophy, and the B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes for prospective teachers, according to current study and exam rules. The applicant is expected to have a systematic research focus in political and/or social philosophy and also to be able to teach these subjects in their historical dimensions. Special emphasis will be placed on internationally recognised research contributions. We value experience in winning third party funding. Application requirements are an excellent Ph.D. degree and a Habilitation or comparable contributions to research in philosophy.
