The following Carl-Zeiss-Foundation endowed professorship is to be filled at Aalen University in the Faculty of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the earliest possible date:
W3-Professorship „Life Cycle Engineering“
Your tasks:- You represent the subject area in teaching, research and transfer and acquire corresponding external funding
- You contribute to the further development of the Materials for Sustainability department and are involved in academic self-administration
- You will network with colleagues in materials engineering and other fields of study and build up internal and external cooperation networks
- You have broad well-founded specialist knowledge in the fields of sustainability in production and life cycle engineering
- Proven expertise in the engineering disciplines of materials and production technology is required
- You are nationally and internationally networked in the field with active contacts to teaching, research and industry
- You have strong methodological competence as well as didactic and pedagogical skills in communicating complex issues
- A university degree in engineering, materials science, natural sciences or a related subject
- Special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by a relevant doctorate
- At least five years of professional experience (including at least three years outside the university sector) in industry or experience in industry-related research and development related to the advertised position
- Profound knowledge in materials/manufacturing technology, knowledge in the field of polymer materials and plastics technology is expressly desired
- Publications in scientific journals and/or at conferences related to the advertised position
- Experience in teaching as well as the acquisition of external funding and the management of R&D projects is desired
- Pedagogical and didactic aptitude for teaching technical skills and complex issues through lectures, exercises and practicals
- Willingness to offer courses in English and German and, in particular, interdisciplinary basic subjects
Provided that the criteria under civil-service law are met, the successful candidate will initially be employed as an civil servant on a probationary basis when they are first appointed. Should the demonstrate an aptitude for the role, they will then be admitted to the civil service for life. As an alternative, the job holder may sign a fixed-term contract as an employee.

Verwaltungsmitarbeiter:innen und Mitarbeiter:innen im technischen Dienst können sich über ein modernes und interdisziplinäres Arbeitsumfeld freuen. Sie tragen wesentlich zum Funktionieren der Hochschule bei und haben die Möglichkeit, eigene Ideen einzubringen.
