The defining focus of the professorship is the cross-material consideration of load-bearing structures. Teaching will be primarily in the bachelor's and master's degree courses in Civil Engineering and cover the fundamentals of structural engineering as well as the design, modeling, dimensioning, and engineering design of civil engineering structures. Advanced courses are currently offered in the fields of load-bearing structures and lightweight material construction, among other areas. Courses are taught in German. Ideally, the successful candidate would also teach in the English-language Civil Systems Engineering master’s program. The research focus of the professorship is on the analysis, development, and possible applications of a wide range of systems, constructions, and materials for civil engineering structures and lightweight structures. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute both actively and formatively to the development of the institute through coordinated research projects, especially in cooperation with other academic professorships and research groups within the faculty and TU Berlin, for example to establish a (DFG) research unit or other joint research projects. - Willingness and ability to offer basic courses in all areas of structural engineering covering all materials
- Experience in the acquisition and implementation of complex, preferably international research projects in the field of structural engineering and in particular lightweight structures
- Lightweight material structures
- Lightweight structural engineering
- Lightweight systems engineering
- Adaptive structural elements
- Interdisciplinary cooperation with other professions involved in construction, such as architecture and technical building services
- Lightweight structure technologies in existing buildings
- Digital modeling of structures and materials
