The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) analyses the causes of international and intrastate conflicts. As one of the leading peace research institutes in Europe, we combine interdisciplinary basic research with science transfer to the public, the media and policymakers. Since 2009, the PRIF has been a member of the Leibniz Association, a national umbrella organization of outstanding non-university research institutes in Germany. PRIF is headquartered in Frankfurt and has a branch office in Berlin. More than 100 employees from research, administration and science communication contribute to PRIF's success. We are looking for a new colleague to join our team in Research Department III “Transnational Politics” as soon as possible.One Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) in full-time, in Salary Group 13 TV-H*, in the Research Group “Radicalization, Terrorism and Extremism Prevention,” for the duration of three years (acc. to WissZeitVG**).
Your responsibilities include:- Collaborative and independent research with a focus on transnational terrorist actors and networks, their formation and organization, and on policies to prevent, to counter and to cope with terrorist activities;
- Publication work with a focus on transnational terrorism or related topics in international academic journals and with well-established publishers;
- Development of grant applications and implementation of research projects in the Research Group and Research Department;
- Support of PRIF’s national and international research networks in the field of radicalization, terrorism and extremism prevention;
- A “good” doctoral degree (“Gut” acc. to the German grading system) in political science, sociology or another relevant discipline;
- A proven scientific focus on transnational terrorist actors and networks as well as command of the current debates in the research field;
- An international profile attained through experience in collaborative research, field research/ research stays, and/or presentations at international conferences;
- Proven experience in quantitative and/or qualitative social-science methods;
- Willingness and ability to further PRIF’s research agenda;
- Ability to work interdisciplinarily;
- Willingness to present research to the political and general public;
- Willingness to participate in PRIF’s self-governance. The language spoken in PRIF’s central committees is English;
- Very good spoken and written command of English, willingness to learn German during the duration of the employment.
