The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.

Your responsibilities include:
Interdisciplinary research within the project "Complex and Competing Phenomena in Recycled Flame-retardant Polymers: The Role of Glass Fibres".
- Tailored bench-scale fire testing, e.g. UL 94 combined with IR camera and burning scale, and cone calorimeter investigations
- Thermal analysis (thermogravimetry), thermal properties (k, cp) as f(T)
- Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) simulations
- Co-ordination of collaboration with project partners
- Evaluation, compilation and presentation of results, documentation, preparation of reports, publication of results
- Completed university studies (M.Sc./ M.Eng.) and PhD in polymer science or a comparable field of study
- Relevant experience in thermal analysis and fire testing
- Experience in the field of fibre reinforced composites and/or simulation of polymeric materials
- Interdisciplinary collaboration within the team and with external partners
- Knowledge in data evaluation and presentation, preparation of reports and scientific publications
- Good communication and information behaviour
- Goal-oriented and structured way of working
